Entry 5: reading

Reading out loud with emotions. Macro skill: reading. Age of the students: 7 - 8 years old. Topic: Ordering food. Performance indicator:  The students will read dialogues out loud with emotions. Description of the activity: This activity will be done in pairs. The students are going to read dialogues about ordering food, and they will read them with different emotions such as happy, sad, angry, sorprised, afraid, etc.  Materials: Computer and projector.  Time: 20 minutes.   Steps:  The teacher asks students to get in pairs.  After that, the teacher asks a pair to pass in front of the class and read the dialogue. Once they are familiar with the roles, the teacher assigns them an emotion. The teachers asks them to read the dialogues with those emotions. Then, the students switch their roles. Entry 4: vocabulary

 Hangman. Macro skill: vocabulary acquisition. Age of the students: 5-6 years old. Topic: Alfabeth and family members. Performance indicators: The student will guess the family member that is written in the hangman activity. Description of the activity: Hangman is a game that consists of guessing written words before the hangman dies. Aside from that, students have limited opportunities to be mistaken. So, the teacher will create a list of family members and the students will guess the written words. Once the word is discovered, the teacher will reinforce the vocabulary. Materials: Computer and projector. Time: 20 minutes. Steps: The teacher will create a list of family members that students will have to guess. The teacher will ask students to guess the word by mentioning only letters. The students might be selected by the teacher or they might participate voluntarily.  Sample of the resource: Mother. Entry 3: phonics

 Tongue twisters. Macro skill: Phonics. Age of the students: 5 - 6 years old. Topic: Tongue twister for R, TH, B, and S- SH sounds. Indicators:  The students will perform tongue twisters to master their pronunciation.  The students will focus on specific sounds such as R, TH, B, and S-SH sounds. Description of the activity: An online roulette wheel will be created with the names of the students. The roulette will decide who is going to say the tongue twister. The activity will be done gradually. In other words, the students will start performing slowly, and then faster.  Materials: Computer and projector.  Time: 25 minutes. Steps:  The teacher creates a roulette wheel with the names of the students online. Once the teacher has the names on the Wheel, he spins it. When the wheel stops, the teacher is going to ask the student (the one who got selected in the wheel) to stand up and perform the tongue twisters. The student will begin slowly, and then, faster....

Entry 2: listening

 Secret message. Macro skill: listening. Age of the students: 6 years old. Topic: present simple routines.  Performance indicator: The students will retain chunks of information in short-term memory. Description of the activity: The teacher is going to make 2 groups of students and choose one leader for each group. Then, the teacher is going to tell the leaders one phrase related to routines. After that,  the leaders have to retain that information and pass it to their team that is going to be forming a line. The last student has to say the same phrase that was told to the leader at the beginning. Each group will be gaining points to have a winner.  Materials: Board and markers. Time: 20 minutes. Steps:  The teacher asked students to stand out and make a line. Then, the teacher divides the group taking one student to the right and another to the left, and so on. Photograph descriptions. Macro skill: Speaking. Age of the students: 6 years old. Topic: colors, clothes, and accessories.  Performance indicators:  The students describe the clothes and colors people are wearing in the pictures. The students correctly use grammar (color + clothes/accessories = orange t-shirt, black jeans, and white shoes). Students pronounce the colors and clothes correctly.  Description of the activity: The teacher is going to give students a ball made of paper (hot potato). Then, he is going to ask students to pass the ball between them while he plays an English song. When the song stops, the students will choose one picture from their album. After that, the student will describe a person's clothes and their colors in the picture.
